Creative. Original. Bold. The pair appeared on the feet of @futurist__ and @sallysneakers as the traditional April Fools' Day approached. Edison Chen, founder of Clot and a collaborator of the brand, even shared photos of the box equipped with thick laces. Adidas specified that the latest offering was crafted with environmentally friendly materials like natural fibers, primarily cardboard.
On Monday, the three stripes brand finally unveiled its latest creation, which didn't fail to generate reactions across the sneaker scene. While some were already planning to proudly wear them, the reality was quite different: it was a marketing operation for April Fools' Day. The three stripes brand certainly made a splash with its design, in the spirit of the MSCHF collective and its Big Red Boot.
The Joke Is in the Box
"We had a lot of fun thinking outside the box, and we're happy you joined in on the fun," the three stripes brand revealed. Many had guessed it, others were caught by the prank. Adidas managed to blur the lines right up until D-Day, notably thanks to the SKU code AF0104, which hinted at a potential release for the shoe box.
However, for the most curious about the price, a surprise awaited. For those who chose to click the "Set Reminder" button, exclusive access was given to enter a raffle. The prize? An adidas shoe cabinet, designed by Gab Bois. Of course, the winner will also receive a sample of the whimsical shoe box. Adidas reminds us: "this shoe is strictly intended for display and should not be worn daily as a pair of sneakers." Entries are still open for those who can participate. Results tonight at 9:15 PM!
