After reimagining Vans' classic styles, Bape continues its exploration of the California catalog.
Bape knows the wardrobe of Vans inside out. Since 2021, the Japanese label has been covering the classics of the California brand with its iconic Camo. After reimagining iconic silhouettes like the Authentic, the Old Skool, the Sk8-Hi, and the Sk8-Mid, the Japanese label is now taking on a more recent model from the California brand's revival: the Knu Skool.

Reintroduced in recent seasons, the silhouette has quickly established itself as one of the symbols of the return of sneakers with generous proportions. With its design inspired by 90s skate shoes, its oversized tongue, and its bold volumes, the Knu Skool embodies a nostalgic aesthetic. A perfect base for the world of Bape.
A New Chapter in the Story Between Bape and Vans
For this new collaboration, the Japanese label isn't looking to completely transform the silhouette: instead, it prefers to play with its codes, bringing in elements that have shaped its identity for decades. For this occasion, the collaboration comes in two colorways. The first combines green camo with a pink and purple lining, while the second opts for a darker palette, complemented by a black and white checkerboard interior, a nod to one of Vans' most iconic patterns.

In terms of materials, both versions feature a construction that combines suede panels and canvas prints. The traditional Sidestripe evolves with a raised construction incorporating the iconic STA logo of the Japanese label. This is a way to merge the identities of both brands without altering the original silhouette. And as often, several elements reinforce the identity of the sneaker. Lace Keeper shaped like an Ape Head. Co-branding. No doubt: the Knu Skool embodies the meeting of two worlds that have shared the same cultural influence for several years.

The silhouette still retains its original DNA with its low profile, padded collar, and Waffle sole, a true Vans signature since 1966. Through this collaboration, Bape and Vans continue a formula that has been working for several years. The Japanese label keeps revisiting the archives of the Californian brand through its visual language, while Vans leverages its collaborations to strengthen the place of its silhouettes.
