Jacquemus embraces sportswear
Launched at 19 years old as a self-taught designer, Simon Porte Jacquemus quickly established his house alongside the greatest in Haute couture. With a minimalist, sunny, and sensual mix, he perfectly embodies the 2.0 generation of designers and focuses on colorful pieces inspired by his native region. Combining both an original and chic side, Jacquemus now creates excitement at every fashion show and stands out strongly from his competitors.
While many rumors have generated excitement around this partnership, the summer collection was unveiled on the social media of both collaborators on Monday, May 16, and reveals a dozen pieces reinterpreting athletic women's sportswear in a minimal way.
“I have always been inspired by vintage ACG pieces and Nike campaigns from the 90s. Keeping this image in mind, we designed sportswear for women with sensual details and neutral colors,” explains the French designer in a statement.
Thus, he mixes his naturally chic side of Jacquemus style with Nike's performance. “I wanted to create something super light,” he explains. Attracted by the sportswear universe of the brand for a long time, this collection brings a moodboard that combines ease and simplicity.

Moreover, it targets a wide audience. Indeed, Jacquemus and Nike want these pieces to fit all body types, making them accessible to everyone.
The standout pieces of his collection? Undoubtedly his unique interpretation of the Nike Air Humara that he particularly loves and this minimalist dress introduced with a stunning backless design. “It is both super light and super sensual,” he clarifies.

If Jacquemus seems to depict a collaboration that excites him, the swoosh brand appears to be quite satisfied with this alliance. “We are always looking to work with people who can offer us something we don’t have as a brand,” comments Jarrett Reynolds, vice president of NRG Apparel Design. “Simon’s power lies in the sensuality and emotion of his creations. He has the gift of making the ordinary truly special.”
If this unlikely partnership has taken Instagram by storm, it is once again disrupting the codes of luxury and sportswear and could soon bring a sequel for both brands that are perfectly complementary.
This exclusive collection will be released on June 28 on Jacquemus. However, some pieces may also appear on Nike. Stay connected!
