It's Lit! With the imminent release of his 4th solo album, La Flame is preparing his very first signature model, once again in collaboration with Jordan Brand. First spotted in May on the red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival, the lowtop features a navy blue suede base with brown leather details on the tongue. An inverted white swoosh adorns the outer side. The color scheme remains fairly understated, in keeping with the outdoor aesthetic of previous Cactus Jack designs like the Travis Scott x Air Max 1.
A second familiar colorway signed Cactus Jack.
A few weeks later, Jacques Webster (his real name) was spotted on a music video shoot in Nice wearing a two-tone version with a green swoosh reminiscent of the iconic Travis Scott x Air Jordan 1 Low Medium Olive, featuring its combination of black suede and white leather. This model includes a strap inspired by the Air Trainer 1 as well as a thicker beige sole in the style of an Air Tech Challenge. The latter would actually go on to inspire the design of the Air Yeezy 2 created in 2012 by Kanye West.
Travis Scott's love for retro tennis silhouettes is well known, such as the Nike Mac Attack, which he has been wearing for several months, including a Friends & Family edition featuring the famous inverted swoosh. Designed for John McEnroe, the midtop is finally getting its first retro since 1984 (US exclusive), complete with an ad that pits the tennis legend against the Texan artist on a court!
Never two without three (or four)!
Invited to SZA's concert in Amsterdam, the performer was seen on stage wearing a third version of the Cut The Check on his feet. This one stands out with its grey suede upper and a gum outsole marked with a handwritten "JACK."
True to his reputation as a master of teasing, La Flame revealed a fourth colorway on Instagram that echoes the Travis Scott x Air Jordan 1 Low Reverse Mocha. White leather, brown suede, inverted swoosh and gum sole... Suffice to say, this one is a guaranteed hit!
So, when does it release?
No release date has been revealed yet, but an official preview is expected this Friday, July 28, during Travis Scott's exclusive performance at the Pyramids of Giza in Egypt. To mark the occasion, Jordan Brand will invite 25 lucky fans to the concert as part of the mysterious "Road to Utopia" campaign. The activation will be livestreamed on Mr. Scott's official website, despite the various controversies surrounding his appearance.
On Instagram, the Houston superstar even shared a private FaceTime between the GOAT himself, Michael Jordan, and the entire Cactus Jack team. They presumably discussed the upcoming models in the "Cut The Check" collection and the potential Travis Scott x Air Jordan 1 Low Golf, which is expected to release this fall, golf being one of MJ's favorite sports.
