Quand le créateur français Simon Porte Jacquemus s’empare d’un des prototypes les plus iconiques de Nike, une rencontre inattendue se créée entre patrimoine sportif et vision minimaliste.
The Swoosh has never hidden its taste for bold collaborations. But combining its historical heritage with Jacquemus's minimalist vision is almost an art. Its latest collaborative project? The “JacuMoon”, a reinterpretation of the Moon Shoe, born in the 1970s and considered one of the first icons of the sportswear brand. After exploring silhouettes like the Humara or pieces inspired by athletic wear, Jacquemus is now tackling Nike's founding icon.
Unveiled for the first time during Paris Fashion Week in January, the collaboration is already set to establish itself as a vibrant tribute to Nike's heritage. If the Moon Shoe still fascinates today, it is due to the uniqueness of its story. Produced in only twelve copies in the early 70s, the silhouette became one of the brand's first major innovations, combining lightness and grip. A feat born from a gesture as simple as it is visionary: Bill Bowerman, co-founder of Nike, did not hesitate to repurpose his wife's waffle iron to design a waffled sole.
A craft boldness that has made the Moon Shoe legendary. One of the few existing copies, never worn, was recently auctioned at Sotheby’s for 437,500 dollars. Proof that this silhouette is not just a simple pair: it is a piece of history, a sports and cultural relic.
Three colors to rewrite history
For this first creative project, the JacuMoon comes in three colors: University Reed, Off Noir, and Alabaster. Each shade tells a different facet of this shared story. The red, bright and energetic, evokes the competitive spirit of racing. The black reflects the creator's minimalist approach. The white, in turn, conveys a contemporary and sculptural vision of the silhouette. Here, the JacuMoon becomes the culmination of a relationship built on coherence and respect for heritage. The design takes up the codes of the Moon Shoe, with its unique waffled sole. Where Bowerman worked on pure performance, Simon Porte Jacquemus injects his minimalist and sensual vision. The result: a pair that transcends decades without losing its identity.

While the proportions and waffled footprint remain true to the original Moon Shoe, Jacquemus adds refined finishes. Metal logo. Noble materials. Exclusive box. Every detail contributes to the narrative of this collaboration. The JacuMoon embodies a manifesto: to celebrate Nike's heritage while reinventing it with the Haute-Couture gaze of the French creator.

By entrusting its reinterpretation to Jacquemus, the Swoosh chooses a unique approach. While other collaborations rely on immediate hype, this one progresses with a controlled pace, built step by step. For now, the French creator is patiently weaving a relationship with Nike, building a catalog of silhouettes ready to launch before the end of the year 2025. As for the price, no official information has yet been provided by either partner.
