Thirty years after its release, Space Jam returns with Jordan featuring a new collection and several projects celebrating the film's legacy.
To celebrate the thirtieth anniversary of Space Jam, Jordan is launching a new collection inspired by the film released in 1996 featuring Michael Jordan and the Looney Tunes. For this occasion, the sportswear brand is reimagining several of its iconic silhouettes, including the Air Jordan 11, while also developing a clothing line that features the characters and visual elements from the movie.
To mark this anniversary, Jordan is unveiling a campaign created with Wieden+Kennedy and members of the animation team from Warner Bros. Centered around the message “Excellence is never out of reach”, the sportswear brand brings together several figures from sports and music, including basketball player Azzi Fudd, baseball player Aaron Judge, Nigerian singer Rema, and artist Teyana Taylor.
The campaign also revisits the origins of Space Jam, whose story begins long before its theatrical release. In 1992, Michael Jordan and Bugs Bunny appeared together in the Hare Jordan commercial, imagined around their meeting on a basketball court. The success of this partnership would lead, four years later, to the film Space Jam, which brought the two characters together against the Monstars. A story that remains closely tied to the Air Jordan 11, which has become one of the most iconic silhouettes in Jordan's history.
The Air Jordan 11 Space Jam at the center of the collection
It's hard to talk about Space Jam without mentioning the Air Jordan 11. Worn by Michael Jordan in the 1996 film, this silhouette has become one of the most iconic sneakers in his catalog. Thirty years later, Jordan is celebrating this anniversary by bringing back the Air Jordan 11 Retro OG Space Jam, featuring a version that's particularly true to the original. The sneaker returns with its black construction in leather and patent leather, accented with royal blue touches. Several historical details also make a comeback, including the number 23 and the Jumpman Jam inscription.

But Jordan isn't just re-releasing one of his most famous silhouettes. The brand is also using this anniversary to explore other elements from the film, starting with the Magic Ball. In Space Jam, this ball allows the Monstars to steal the talents of several NBA players. Jordan takes this idea and creates a Air Jordan 11 Magic Ball aimed at women, featuring a synthetic leather upper that can change color. Depending on the angle, four different shades appear on the silhouette. This is a first for the Air Jordan 11, with a similar treatment applied to the box.
The third Air Jordan 11 focuses on a less visible aspect of Space Jam: its production. To bring Michael Jordan and the Looney Tunes to the screen, the film relied heavily on animation and special effects. Jordan draws inspiration from this world with a fully green silhouette, directly inspired by the green screens used during filming.
Finally, Jordan expands this collection to include other silhouettes from his catalog. An Air Jordan 3 Retro Space Jam, an Air Jordan 1 Low SE Magic Ball, a Jordan First 1 Space Jam, and an Air Jordan 1 Low Golf Spike round out this selection, allowing the Beaverton brand to extend the film's universe beyond its most iconic sneaker.
A documentary to dive into the behind-the-scenes of Space Jam
Meanwhile, Jordan is preparing Space Jam: Beyond the Jam, a mini-documentary series of six episodes focused on the making of the film. The program will explore how an advertisement featuring Michael Jordan and Bugs Bunny transformed into a full-length movie blending basketball and animation.
