While the latest collaboration between Joe Freshgoods and the Boston-based brand on three New Balance 990V4 inspired by the movie "Belly" was very well received by sneaker fans, it seems their new collaboration on a model straight from the archives is making waves too! Images recently surfaced revealing glimpses of what appeared to be a New Balance 1000, a model officially released in 1999 that has barely been seen in recent decades. It was ultimately the creative genius himself who confirmed the upcoming release of two models during the month of April. Discover the first images of this partnership and feel free to share your thoughts under our Instagram post!
Joe Freshgoods x New Balance 1000: the first visuals
The Chicago-based designer loves playing with contrasts and creating sneaker packs with storytelling and original inspirations that make you want to dive into the model. By launching the "Pink Mink" and "Black Ice" versions, he brings his personal touch to this understated silhouette, illustrating how a thoughtful collaboration can revive dormant classics. One features a soft, almost nostalgic pink, while the other, more mysterious, plays on shades of deep black and burgundy. Metallic accents, proudly displayed co-brandings, a matte side logo, and custom outsoles: these are just some of the elements that make these models unique pieces to cop!
Both pairs are expected to release during the month of April on the Joe Freshgoods website, and hopefully on New Balance as well. We do not yet have information regarding the price.

The mysterious New Balance 1000 is back?
For those who don't know, the New Balance 1000 is a somewhat under-the-radar pair, released in the late 90s. Not the most famous in the New Balance family, admittedly, but it had its charm. And now Teddy Santis, the founder of Aimé Leon Dore and the creative director of the New Balance Made in USA line for the past two years, has decided to take it on and turn it into a new must-have in 2024!
A few weeks before the partnership between JFG and NB was officially announced on the New Balance 1000, the first images of a New Balance 1000 GR (General Release) had also surfaced. The first New Balance 1000 to be revealed features a black mesh base layered with grey and silver overlays displaying the "1000" inscription. The sneaker is completed by a thick beige outsole with ABZORB cushioning to ensure comfort and durability. It should soon be joined by additional colorways so everyone can find the pair that suits them.

Another partnership with Aimé Leon Dore in the works?
Of course, when a partnership surfaces on a model, it immediately takes an important place in the sneaker world and quickly becomes a trend. Teddy Santis, who is behind the model's big comeback, is also expected to offer his version of the New Balance 1000 through his label Aimé Leon Dore. With a completely different design from the iterations that have surfaced, the Aimé Leon Dore x New Balance 1000 is expected to feature a pink base contrasted by a beige upper. We eagerly await the official visuals of this potential collaboration!
How does the New Balance 1000 fit?
We have not yet been able to try this model on, however, like other New Balance silhouettes, it should be TTS (True to Size), meaning it fits normally. You should therefore go with your usual size. That said, some New Balance models occasionally run slightly small, in which case you should buy the pair a half size above your usual size.
