As every week, the sneaker world was filled with numerous announcements. Between new designs and reinterpretations, there was plenty of action. Details!
LeBron and Wale, stars of the All-Star Weekend with Nike
While the "OGs" team (the veterans) won on the night of Sunday February 16 to Monday February 17, many Swoosh partners took the opportunity to showcase their new pairs. Although he didn't set foot on the 2025 NBA court, LeBron James leveraged the spotlight to unveil a Nike LeBron 22 "Captain Planet". Paying tribute to the animated series, the pair features tones inspired by the environmentally-conscious superhero. On the court side, Washington rapper Wale presented one of the upcoming pairs from the Nike Basketball division. Monochrome orange upper. Black tongue. Black rubber outsole. No doubt, the pair redefines the division's codes, sitting halfway between a Nike Foamposite and a Zoom Hyperflight. However, despite Wale's first look, official details about this new Nike Basketball pair have not yet been announced. Stay tuned!
Skims x Nike: the revolution of women's sportswear is underway
Nike and Skims, Kim Kardashian's brand, are joining forces to create NikeSKIMS, a new joint line ready to shake up the codes of women's sportswear. The goal? To combine innovation and performance with SKIMS' sculpting aesthetic. Designed for female athletes, the collection already promises a perfect balance between technicality and design. Shaping sports bras, second-skin leggings. No doubt, the collaboration between the two future partners intends to push the standards of women's sportswear. "We are thrilled to disrupt the industry with a brand that combines strength and femininity," says Heidi O'Neill, President of Nike Consumer, Product & Brand. The first collection will be available in spring 2025 in the United States, before a potential worldwide expansion in 2026.
Joe Freshgoods strikes again with New Balance (and maybe Patta?)
Joe Freshgoods is not done with the Boston-based brand. While he just unveiled his campaign for the launch of the New Balance 992 "Aged Well", the Chicago creative already has his eyes set on what's next. On his Instagram account, JFG posted a photo of himself holding a newspaper. The headline: "Joseph Robinson of JFK signs new contracts with New Balance." Unsurprisingly, one of the brand's most influential collaborators will continue to bring his creative vision to the brand's models, true to his signature. But that's not all. A master of teasing and storytelling, he hinted at a potential collaboration with Patta this fall. While nothing has been confirmed yet, the idea of an alliance between JFG and the Dutch shop is already intriguing. Strong artistic vision. Proud heritage. The two names already seem like a natural match... To be continued!
The Nike Air Max 1, Supreme edition
There is some Swoosh in the air for James Jebbia and his creative teams. After revisiting the Nike SB Dunk Low, the SB Dunk High, and the Nike SB Air Darwin, the New York label is taking on one of Tinker Hatfield's greatest classics: the Nike Air Max 1. No more skate silhouettes, it's time for four reworked versions of the Air Max 1. A first since its bold reinterpretation of the Supreme x Nike Air Max 98. While no visuals currently provide a full overview of the collection, the Spring/Summer 2025 lookbook offers a glimpse. Black leather. Premium materials. Signature finish. The first version dons the well-known Supreme DNA and lets us imagine the rest of the collection, arriving in yellow, purple, and white colorblocking. You will need to be quick as the Supreme x Nike Air Max 1 collaboration is scheduled for this spring.
