While slides and mules have been a staple of many brands' summer lineups, it's now Nike's turn to launch its own range! After Yeezy and its Yeezy Slides, Salehe Bembury and his Crocs Pollex Clog, or even his Crocs Pollex Slide, Nike unveils the Nike Calm Mule.
Sitting somewhere between a slip-on and a mule, it carries the legacy of the Nike Calm Slide, a victim of its own success. Unveiled last June, this slide brilliantly brought back the minimalist design of the Air Force 1 and quickly established itself as a summer essential. With its monochromatic colorways, textured sole and EVA foam construction, it provided strong competition to brands already present on the market.
However, the Swoosh brand didn't wait long to capitalize on the popularity of its Calm range. Nike's designers quickly turned their attention to diversifying the model, merging the laid-back style of the Calm Slide with a trendy mule clog for the upcoming season.
From the Nike Calm Slide to the Nike Calm Mule
The Nike Calm Mule was unveiled in a minimalist style, not without echoing the popular Birkenstock Boston. As its name suggests, its design stays close to the Nike Calm Slide. However, the mule features a slide-in upper, paired with a new adjustable strap on the sides, attached to a supportive foam patch at the heel.
Regarding the technology used, it features the same foam and rubber composition, combining comfort and durability. Finally, while the Slide version dropped in summery colorways, the Swoosh brand adapted its color selection for the fall/winter 2023 season. Indeed, it has already unveiled four versions of the Calm Mule, namely the "Oil Green", "Hemp", "Light Smoke Grey", and "Black" versions, each featuring shades of olive, beige, grey, and black respectively.
As of now, the Nike Calm Mule release details have not yet been announced by the Swoosh brand. However, expect to see them drop by the end of the year, at a retail price of €60 on Nike and at other retailers.
