The adventure between Patta x Nike began in 2006, two years after the opening of the Patta store in Amsterdam. Founders Edson Sabajo and Guillaume Schmidt are now loyal collaborators of the American equipment manufacturer and offer always original iterations, pleasing many sneaker addicts. Also, the name “Patta” means “sneaker” in Suriname dialect, the homeland of the two sneaker enthusiasts. Thus, the Dutch label with urban influences has managed to win the hearts of sneakerheads by leaving its creative mark on classic pairs from the swoosh brand.
The beginnings of a successful collaboration
The two friends Edson Sabajo and Guillaume Schmidt, influenced by hip-hop culture and nightlife, started their business by bringing back pairs of sneakers from their trips to the United States. With their keen eye and good taste, they found pairs that were unavailable in the Netherlands to resell in their Amsterdam store. They met with great success, and more and more sneaker addicts in search of the rare gem traveled to the Patta shop. With their growing popularity, the shop quickly launched its own streetwear brand of the same name, influenced by the 90s-2000s. Thus, in addition to collaborating to create sneaker pairs together, Nike and Patta design and market clothing collections.
On the occasion of the five years of the Dutch label, five pairs were released. These sneakers with surprising color combinations, modern and original materials did not fail to make an impact, thus becoming rare gems on the market. In chronological order, here are the pairs from their collaboration:

This first collaboration released in 2006 consists of a green premium suede upper and textured leather inserts reminiscent of the shape of cannabis leaves, which are very present in Dutch culture. The inner lining is adorned with a bright orange matching the iconic visible air bubble.
Fifth Anniversary Pack
Three years after the partnership of the two brands and on the occasion of the fifth anniversary of the Amsterdam shop, an anniversary pack was born. It consists of five stunning pairs of the iconic Air Max 1, marked by Patta's style and which have greatly charmed the community.

This edition of the Air Max 1 takes the structure of the Air Max 1 OG Red, the first version imagined by the talented Tinker Hatfield. It consists of “Chlorophyll” green denim accents as well as beautiful gray suede and white mesh inserts. In addition to their well-presented artistic touch, the Patta branding is noticeable on the tongue. A well-thought-out simplicity that is now part of the most beautiful pairs of Air Max released.

The colorway of this Air Max 1 is more subdued than the other versions of the anniversary pack. With its black suede and mesh upper, it stands out thanks to green details at the eyelets, the visible air bubble, and the branding. The swoosh is white and matches the midsole. However, this sobriety was very well received thanks to its colorful finishes that enhance the design.

Patta and the Jordan Brand
Following its success with the Air Max 1, Patta continues its momentum and gets closer to the Jordan Brand. With their overflowing creativity, the creators of the Dutch label tackle for the first time the Air Jordan 7, the one that accompanied Michael Jordan during his victory at the Barcelona Olympics in 1992. Thus, they reworked the original Air Jordan 7, releasing it in two colorways:
- Patta x Air Jordan 7 OG SP “Shimmer Velvet Brown”

The result of this collaboration is very successful, with a sneaker in brown, powder pink tones and burgundy accents. The famous Jumpman is found at the heel as well as “Patta” inscribed on the midsole and the heel tab to mark this exceptional partnership. After the “Shimmer Velvet Brown” colorway, the swoosh brand and the Amsterdam brand unveiled another Air Jordan 7, which takes the same color blocking as its predecessor. In this version, we find khaki, pistachio green, and gray, with suede elements as well as a midsole that bears the “Patta” logo. The artistic director compared this new version by saying that “If the color of the Shimmer was the brother of the original, then the Icicle is its cousin.”
This one was released on October 18, 2019, at a price of €200.

Taking the silhouette from 1988, it has been modernized with its white mesh base, gray and black inserts, and especially its stunning neon pink details on the outsole, the tongue, and the eyelets. The Patta branding is obviously found on the tongue and a mini swoosh on the mudguard.
Patta x Nike: a new wave crashes into the sneaker world
It was in 1987 that Tinker Hatfield was inspired by the Centre Georges Pompidou to create the iconic Nike Air Max 1, which has become a timeless silhouette. After their very successful previous collaborations, Patta and Nike come together again and unveil the “The Wave” collection, which is among the best sneaker releases of 2021. In this way, Patta was able to show its impact in the world of streetwear while relaunching the Nike Air Max 1. To mark this successful collaboration, four short films were made, corresponding to the four colorways of the The Wave pack released successively.
The two friends passionate about sneakers then brought their personal touch without distorting the original model. Discover the first four colorways of the pack:
