Since the success of its collab with A$AP Rocky, Under Armour is looking to repeat the formula with another big name in the rap scene: Playboi Carti. The American brand has officially announced a multi-year creative partnership with the artist and his label Opium, marking an unexpected yet ambitious strategic shift. The goal? To create a brand shaped by Carti's gothic and avant-garde aesthetic.
Since January, the rapper has been appearing on stage wearing pieces signed by OPIUM and Under Armour, including a technical cap that has instantly gone viral with its punk-inspired metallic details. Designed as a manifesto, this first piece embodies Under Armour's desire to step outside its traditional framework. By leveraging Carti's mythical presence, the brand aims to reinvent its codes by merging performance with high-end streetwear, through bolder silhouettes and reimagined technical materials.
As of now, the “Antagonist Technical Cap” remains the only confirmed product, but it already gives a clear glimpse of the universe to come. With this collaboration, Under Armour is clearly showcasing its ambitions: to firmly establish itself in the culture. If the promise is kept, the impact could be as strong, if not stronger, than that initiated with Rocky. The full collection is expected by late 2026.
