Freshly appointed as creative director of the Crocs Pollex Pod line, the New York-based designer finally unveils his first model since his nomination. In this new role, Salehe Bembury will strive to evolve the Pollex Pod collection and introduce new silhouettes within the range.
Crocs Pollex x Salehe Bembury: a new oddity on the sneaker landscape
A master of Instagram teasing, Salehe shared a first close-up in September 2023 that sparked plenty of reactions across the sneaker sphere. But it was not until November that the full shape and packaging were finally revealed. The new model features a mixed pastel pink structure in leather, mesh, and EVA foam. On the sole, we find the designer's signature molded fingerprint motif, previously seen on the Crocs Pollex Clog and the Crocs Pollex Slide. A few engraved details on the upper complete the look.
According to Mr. Bembury, the new silhouette will be released during summer 2024, though no official date has been announced yet.
Crocs Pollex x Salehe Bembury: a success story
The first Crocs and Bembury partnership dates back to 2021, with the goal of presenting an entirely new silhouette for the brand rather than yet another collaboration on the Classic Clog. It is arguably the collaboration that forever changed Crocs' trajectory in the sneaker sphere. In December 2021, the designer, already known for his collaborations with New Balance, unveiled the Crocs Pollex Clog. An entirely new model that would tap into the mule trend while breaking the genre's conventions. With his highly organic style inspired by nature, Salehe reprised his signature element found across all his collaborations: his own fingerprint molded in 3D. Between 2022 and 2023, Crocs and Bembury launched no fewer than ten new colorways of the Pollex Clog and an entirely new model: the Crocs Pollex Slide!
