7-Eleven is going head-to-head with Nike in court. The American convenience store chain has filed a lawsuit in a federal court in Texas, arguing that the colorway of the upcoming Air Max 95 too closely resembles its visual identity. The issue lies with the orange, green, and red stripes on the silhouette. According to 7-Eleven, this color combination has been used for decades in its stores, advertising campaigns, and merchandise. The chain believes this graphic similarity could lead people to think there’s a collaboration with Nike, even though no agreement has been made between the two companies.

Another point of contention: the release date. The Air Max 95 is set to drop on July 11, the same day 7-Eleven celebrates its iconic 7-Eleven Day, a major commercial event. According to the lawsuit, the chain attempted to resolve the dispute before taking legal action, but the Swoosh allegedly stuck to its release schedule. Through this legal process, 7-Eleven is asking the court to block the sale of the sneaker, withdraw those already distributed, and obtain the profits made from this model, as well as damages. Nike has not yet publicly responded to this matter.
