Angelo Baque opens the archives. The founder of Awake NY has shared a unique prototype from his collaboration with Jordan centered around the fifth signature silhouette, offering a glimpse of an alternative version of the initial project. Compared to the released sneaker, this Air Jordan 5 takes a much brighter approach. The prototype also reveals the creative process: the “A” logo of Awake NY appears embroidered on the collar, like a signature, before being subtly integrated into the final version.
Angelo Baque's post also reveals a second sample of the Air Jordan 6 set to release this fall. In this alternative variant, the silhouette again explores branding that diverges from the treatment ultimately chosen for the released version: the “A” logo gives way to a crown emblem, hinting at several directions explored prior to the final design.
These revelations come as Jordan officially announces Baque's participation in the Jordan Design Studio, a new initiative dedicated to mentoring young creators. The designer has also expressed his excitement about collaborating with new talents and contributing to this space for exchange and creative development. Chris Gibbs (Union Los Angeles) is also part of this program.
