As brands strive to release new products this year and remain leaders in sneaker releases amid tough competition, Jordan unveils a new unprecedented partnership with popular rapper DJ Khaled. A big fan of the brand, the author of the hit song “Wild Thoughts,” who has just been awarded a Hollywood star, showcases four new silhouettes along with merch and is likely to make waves in sneaker culture.

DJ Khaled x Jordan: A collaboration that is not new
Unveiled a few days ago on the social media of the star from New Orleans, this collaboration marks new iterations that fit into the calendar of Jordan and expand its lineup.
However, this is not the first time that DJ Khaled and Jordan have appeared together. Indeed, they previously unveiled the DJ Khaled x Air Jordan 3 “Grateful” in 2017. Created for the release of his album “Grateful”, it was necessary to pre-order this album and fill out a form to hope to get close before its release, this silhouette in premium red leather featuring the famous elephant print.
Subsequently, the DJ Khaled x Air Jordan 3 “Another One” and the DJ Khaled x Air Jordan 3 “Father of Asahd” were added to the exclusive partnership. Made in limited quantities and released exclusively in the United States in 2018, these two new sneakers follow a similar concept with a clear difference in materials. Indeed, one features premium leather while the other is adorned with a suede upper, and both are made with a stunning royal blue colorway. Potentially still available at some retailers, it will nonetheless require a significant budget to hope to get one of these iconic silhouettes.

After revisiting the Air Jordan 3 several times, Khaled is tackling the Air Jordan 5 this year, the third sneaker in the Jordan line. Released for the first time in 1990, this new silhouette showcases Michael Jordan's playing style when he was on the court and takes inspiration from a fighter jet, the P-51 Mustang.
From a design perspective, this new sneaker is the evolution of the Air Jordan 3 and the Air Jordan 4 and thus seemed to be the logical continuation of the DJ Khaled x Jordan partnership, which includes four new and spring-like iterations.
A collection accessible to the general public
Spotted through a promotional video and detailed photos on the star's Instagram account, these four new Air Jordan 5 “We The Best” are intended for the general public and feature colorful shades of coral pink, white, purple, or blue, likely to delight fans of the model worn by the goat Michael Jordan.
Indeed, they retain the traditional composition of the Air Jordan 5 with a perfect blend of different panels and new textures such as leather and quilted panels on the upper. Additionally, each iteration includes TPU side panels that perfectly match the midsole adorned with a stunning shark tooth pattern, referencing the P-51 fighter jet. To complete these stunning designs, Nike Air and We The Best branding are inserted at each heel, and the tongues feature the inscriptions “Keep” and “Going” inside, perfectly ensuring the co-branding. Perfectly executed, they all include luxurious interior linings and add to the anticipated sneaker releases for the upcoming seasons.
Completely in line with sneaker trends, DJ Khaled shows his appropriation of the iconic silhouette of Jordan with a retro style and a warm and vibrant color palette, straight from Miami. Other colorways have also been spotted but are currently considered samples or seem to be Friends & Family editions.
