Paced by runway shows from major luxury houses and young designers presenting their men's ready-to-wear collections for next year, Fashion Week once again unveiled plenty of surprises. Whether Nike, adidas, or Asics, the brands took advantage of the catwalk to reveal unprecedented and promising collaborations ready to expand the 2025 lineup.
Pharrell Williams Reinvents the adidas Superstar
The confirmed artistic director of Louis Vuitton Men's kicked off this Fashion Week. After a successful Far West sketch at the Jardin d'Acclimatation, Pharrell Williams delivered his fourth show for the French label and undoubtedly offers his most accomplished collection. But that's not all, as he also took the opportunity to unveil a follow-up to his collaboration with the three stripes brand. The multi-talented artist sets aside his adidas Samba Humanrace to offer a new version of the Superstar: the adidas Superstar 92 or "Double Wide." The pair gets a refresh inspired by '90s skate aesthetics with thicker padding, a reimagined shell toe, and oversized stripes. Naturally, the American creator completes his creative touch with blister packaging that includes the mention Virginia, a nod to his roots.
Cecilie Bahnsen's DNA Spotted on the Asics Gel-Quantum 360 VII
Cecilie Bahnsen has clearly shown: the fusion between Haute Couture and sneaker culture is an art. Each of her interpretations of the Asics GT-2160 proves it. After bringing her unique floral aesthetic to the model, the Danish designer took advantage of the Asics pop-up, located in Paris' 3rd arrondissement, to unveil her third collaboration with the Japanese giant. This time, the designer reworks the shape of the Asics Gel-Quantum 360 VII... with straps and floral motifs! Like previous collaborations, the two pairs shed the dad shoe appearance for a finish reminiscent of the baby Mary Jane. And while the Cecilie Bahnsen Asics Gel-Quantum 360 VII "Silver Clearly Blue" and "Silver Yellow Back" were available exclusively at the pop-up, they will get a global release on August 19th. Each pair is priced at 240 euros. Ladies, you'll need to be quick!
Sacai Lands a New Collaboration with the Swoosh
You can always expect Chitose Abe's label to unveil a new collaboration on the runway. Promise kept! Sacai brought back its most prominent collaborator: Nike. After numerous successful collaborations with the Swoosh, the label moves away from the Vaporwaffle and is set to bring its creative vision to the Nike Zegama Dome, a fusion of the Zoom X Zegama and the classic Lava Dome. Technical upper. Crisscrossed laces. Blended toebox. Sacai's signature sole. There's no doubt, the pair takes a minimalist and deconstructed approach, true to Sacai's DNA. Naturally, the two partners are planning several colorways we can't wait to see arrive next year.
The Nike Sense 96 SP, Comme des Garcons Style
Comme des Garcons isn't done with the Swoosh! While the sneaker world still awaits a release date for the trio of Comme des Garcons x Nike Air Max TL 2.5, it seems a new project is already in the works. Next year, Rei Kawakubo's label plans to fuse the Air Max 96 with the ISPA Sense. The result? A Nike Sense 96 SP 2.0 that already comes in several colorways: white, black, and a candy pink finish. While each pair blends the aura of both original versions, they retain the wavy and textured foam uppers specially selected by CDG's expertise. In short, a new model that should not go unnoticed in 2025!
Junya Watanabe and Oakley: A Second Chapter in the Works
Casual chic or sportswear? Why choose when Junya Watanabe offers a pair blending both styles with the sports equipment brand founded by Jim Jannard. For the FW25 collection, the two partners unveiled an update to Oakley's classic silhouette with two minimalist versions. On the menu: canvas, suede, and neoprene. A carefully chosen blend of materials that perfectly aligns with the previous execution of the Chop Saw Mules. Once again, Junya Watanabe and Oakley continue to prove that they not only enjoy creating shoes together, but that they do it rather well. So, mission accomplished? The answer next year!
Jae Tips Takes on the Saucony Matrix
On the Saucony side, Jae Tips has a few more surprises in store, as the creator took advantage of the event to officially unveil his upcoming interpretations of the Saucony Shadow 6000 and the Saucony ProGrid Omni 9, first seen in the capital last December. Although they have only a few shoes together, Jae Tips and Saucony are establishing themselves as one of the strongest partnerships in the running world. And it's far from over, as the American creator made a splash wearing a 2.0 version of the Saucony Matrix. While no additional information has surfaced for now, the pair should drop with a second colorway later this year!
