Next year already has its share of surprises in store. While the Jordan branch is expanding its Reimagined range with numerous silhouettes, it's now the Swoosh's turn to revive its past releases. Nike has already planned a 2.0 version of the Nike Air Max 1 "Urawa", originally released exclusively in Japan in 2004, and it doesn't plan to stop there.
Get ready to dive into its archives, as the sportswear brand seems keen to revive the era when its iconic Air Max 1 was at its peak. To do so, it's unearthing its most iconic partnerships from that period, including one with a pioneering brand in board sports and urban fashion: HUF. Founded in 2002 by Keith Hufnagel, this collaboration paved the way for what became the golden era of sneaker culture.
Named Golden Era, the magic of that period is about to make its grand return. Indeed, according to @bubblekopp, it appears the Swoosh is bringing back the brilliant HUF x Nike Air Max 1 and its "Dark Apple" accents to celebrate twenty remarkable years that united these two partners.
The Nike Air Max 1: A Celebration Story
This first collaboration delivered a superb mix of leather and nubuck in various grey tones. Vivid lime green accents then contrasted the grey upper, particularly on the swooshes, TPU eyelets and branding. It was followed by an exclusive Friends & Family edition, with only 24 pairs produced featuring an additional element: a San Francisco skyline stitched onto the heel, paying tribute to HUF's origins.
Because HUF is above all a legacy connecting San Francisco and New York. Last year, it was the SB division that HUF partnered with to pay tribute to its founder Keith Hufnagel through a stunning City Pack. Comprising three Nike SB Dunk Lows, the two partners featured the iconic San Francisco skyline along with the inscription "Keith Forever." Details that could appear again on this AM1.
While no mockup has been revealed yet, it's possible that both collaborators will revisit its retro aesthetic in its entirety. The possibilities are endless. History can repeat itself, or be entirely rewritten.
When Does the HUF x Nike Air Max 1 Release?
The HUF x Nike Air Max 1 is expected to be reissued sometime in 2024. For now, no additional information has been confirmed, but expect the pair to be available through HUF and SNKRS.
