Joe Freshgoods is not done with the Bostonians. While his reinterpretation of the New Balance 1000 brilliantly brought the model back from the brand's archives, the designer continues to make a strong impact. In the midst of the Olympic Games, the Chicago-based designer strengthens his presence on Parisian streets to release his next collaboration with New Balance as an exclusive. This time, JFG explores family bonds that transcend blood relations and the complexities of family culture, through two New Balance 990v6 pairs.

When it comes to Joe Freshgoods, storytelling is always part of the equation. New Balance's most influential collaborator unveiled on his Instagram account (@joefresgoods) an exclusive pop-up named "A Friend Named Cousin" granting early access to the two new silhouettes. But that's not all. The designer brought together artists from various cities across the United States and Europe, including Goldie Williams, Jewel Ham, Jahlil Nzinga, Banga Minthe, Teoni, and RELLO for a unique art exhibition. From Saturday, July 27 to Tuesday, July 30, panel discussions, artist workshops, and a shop can be found at 17 rue des Filles du Calvaire in the 3rd arrondissement of Paris.
The New Balance 990V6 Made in USA, "made for us" style
Monochrome for the New Balance 990v6? Hard to say no after his remarkable work on the Performance Art: Made To Wear Well pack in 2022. Once again, these two models embody Joe Freshgoods' innovative approach with a return to pastel colors. The opportunity to discover a red design and a blue version paying tribute to the Chicago flag. On the materials side, the designer retains suede and mesh to elevate each traditional element of the 990v6. However, one detail has been carefully modified on the branding front. Beyond the traditional co-brandings between the two partners, JFG applies a subtle "Made For Us" replacing the Made in USA and creates two special boxes to complete this already promising new partnership.

While the Joe Freshgoods x New Balance 990v6 Made in USA "Paris Red" and "Prom Blue" will be available as an early exclusive on July 27, 2024 in Paris, the red design will be a Paris-only exclusive. The "Prom Blue" version will receive a global release on New Balance on August 9. Each pair is priced at 220 euros.
