While brands Nike and Adidas seem to be the undisputed leaders in the sneaker world, one brand has pushed itself to step out of its comfort zone and rise among those that generate real excitement: New Balance.
Indeed, to everyone's surprise, the iconic Boston brand in the running world quickly rose alongside the best to become one of the most influential brands of 2021. By revisiting its classics, it has won over the sneaker addict community and established itself as one of the sneaker references of the year.
As New Balance has called upon multiple designers to bring new iterations, the brand is determined to continue the success of its brand new New Balance 2002R.
Released for the first time in 2010 as the New Balance 2002, it has been reimagined by designer Yue Wu from the group, who offered a complete pack called the Protection Pack. This includes three striking versions, powered by a significant archive potential from the Dad Shoe movement of the late 2010s, now offering new trendy and retro pairs.
Protection Pack: New Balance
With this success, it seemed obvious that New Balance would unveil numerous colorways to complete its brand new lineup. However, it responds more to the expectations of the community as it reveals a new Protection Pack, consisting of six new unique and stylish iterations for 2022.

A Protection Pack consisting of six new silhouettes
This time, there will be something for everyone! New Balance has not done things by halves as six new versions will be on the agenda. From an orange to purple colorway, through pink to green or even blue to white, every sneakerhead will find their happiness in this new installment with a deconstructed and asymmetrical look.
Thus, these 2.0 versions retain the elements found on the “Phantom”, “Rain Cloud” and “Sea Salt” silhouettes. Indeed, each iteration is built around a colorful mesh base with a layering of darker overlays. Moreover, the Boston brand reiterates its remarkable branding with its prominent N logo, its New Balance on its tongue, and its 2002R inscription that subtly refines each silhouette.

Thanks to the creative director of NB Japan, Tetsuya Shono, the 2002R continues to rest on the midsole of the 860v2 and also retains its hybrid NERGY technology that wonderfully refines the silhouette. With the unprecedented addition of its ABZORB SBS, the shoe offers real cushioning and comfort that can only be unanimous.
If you appreciate bright shades, fall for the sparkling colorblockings that we will find on the “Vintage Orange”, the “Pink” or the “Lavender”. Elegant and colorful, these will already be a must-have with the summer season approaching and will surely make a sensation. However, if you prefer more sobriety, New Balance also plans more subdued colorways like the “Mirage Grey”, the “Dark Navy” or the “Cloud White”.

While the “Dark Navy”, “Mirage Grey” and “Vintage Orange” versions were potentially set to release in May, more patience will be required as they have ultimately been postponed. However, we can potentially expect them to be announced alongside the “Lavender”, “Pink” and “Cloud White” versions that will be released in the coming months.
Each silhouette from the Protection Pack is expected to be priced at €150 on New Balance and will be available at other retailers.
