Nike's many branches never cease to surprise us. Next year, Nike SB is set to revisit a timeless classic: the Nike Air Max 95. While Clint and Central Cee already seem ready to reimagine the AM95, it is now the turn of Nike's skateboarding division to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Sergio Lozano's design.
For the occasion, the teams are considering redefining the iconic model. While the Nike Air Max 95 is not typically associated with skateboarding, it has nonetheless had a significant impact in that world. In 1997, professional skateboarder Stevie Williams was photographed wearing a pair of Air Max 95 at Love Park in Philadelphia. A year later, the sneaker inspired the DC Legacy, a skate shoe created for Danny Way and Colin McCay.
What to expect?
Nike SB is no stranger to reinterpreting models from other branches of the brand. The division has already transformed several silhouettes into skatepark-ready pairs. In 2023, it teamed up with Jordan Brand to rework the Air Jordan 4. With skateboarding-specific adjustments, Tinker Hatfield's design enjoyed resounding success that left a lasting mark on sneaker culture. Next year, Nike SB will take a similar approach with the Air Max 95.
Much like the Air Jordan 4 "Pine Green", the Swoosh's skateboarding division is preparing to deliver a new version of the 1995 silhouette. Early reports suggest that Nike SB will incorporate discipline-specific modifications, improving the pair's durability and performance. The model could also feature a Big Bubble unit along with reinforced cushioning.
Although no official images have surfaced yet, next year is already shaping up to be a landmark year for the iconic model. The Swoosh has already planned a range of special editions and faithful reissues, including this Nike SB x Air Max 95, expected to drop throughout 2025 on SNKRS and various skate shops. Pricing details remain unknown.
Nike SB on all fronts
In the same vein, the skateboarding division plans to take on another Swoosh icon: the Nike Air Force 1. For the first time, Bruce Kilgore's design will merge its timeless aesthetic with skate-oriented features. This upcoming fusion could introduce grippier outsoles and improved cushioning. However, no official images currently offer a first look at the Nike SB x Nike Air Force 1.
