The little sister of the New Balance 860, initially designed as a runner, is starting to earn its place in sneaker fans' wardrobes. This pair straight from the archives fits perfectly into this year's retro trends and could well overshadow already well-established models such as the New Balance 1906r and 2002r or more recently the New Balance 9060.
And if this shoe is back in the spotlight in 2023, it is certainly thanks to the talented Teddy Santis and his label Aimé Leon Dore with the release of three New Balance 860V2 colorways that made a splash last April. By making the model his own, he managed to turn it into a must-have for the coming year, and perhaps revive the production of additional versions. However, this strong comeback of this vintage-inspired design had been anticipated a few years earlier by END, Dime and thisisneverthat, all three of which created a New Balance 860V2 reflecting their inspirations and overflowing creativity.
A Few New Balance 860V2 Models This Year
This version of the New Balance is known for its distinctive aesthetic that takes us on a trip back in time, as well as for its comfort derived from the ABZORB and N-ERGY technologies built into its sole. These technologies, proprietary to the American brand, are also used in the popular New Balance 1906R and 2002R, ensuring solid stability.
The New Balance 860V2 "White Black"
This is the first time this colorway has appeared in this lineup from the Boston-based brand. It is a classic that can be worn daily thanks to its understated look, elevated by silver details that wrap around the shoe. Beneath these details lies a white mesh base on the toebox and ankle collar, and black on the quarter panel, over which the prominent "N" logo is layered.
The New Balance 860V2 "White Black" released on May 14, 2023 on New Balance at a retail price of 160€.

It is completed by flat black laces with a white border that echoes the same design codes as the rest of the shoe.

The New Balance 860V2 "White Blue"
The latest edition is this blue New Balance 860V2, which stands out from the other two with its pop of color. There is no major difference in construction, as it features black and white honeycomb mesh paired with silver overlays spread across the upper. The iconic side logo comes in a bright blue that harmonizes with certain elements of the sole. To complete this edition, the "new balance" inscription on the tongue sports a vivid orange hue that echoes the "860V2" stamped on the side of the heel.
With hints of the ALD x New Balance 860V2 "Blue", the New Balance 860V2 "White Blue" has been available since July 1, 2023 at a retail price of 160€. If you haven't copped it yet, don't hesitate and grab it on New Balance, several sizes are still available!

The New Balance 860V2 "Earth & Mars" Pack
This special pack reportedly received a release on the Korean market a few months ago and would therefore be available at certain retailers. We can hope that these two sneakers, featuring a Y2K style and distinctive shades inspired by Earth and Mars, will make their way to the European market in the coming months.
