Here it is, the New Balance Abzorb 1890 is starting to gain traction by teaming up with other big names: Action Bronson, Joe Freshgoods, and now Stone Island! The Italian brand is revamping the silhouette for a new drop that combines streetwear and sneakers with its signature hues.
After several attempts on the 574 and 991v2, the two partners are changing the game. Moving away from the usual heritage silhouettes, they are tackling a new reference originally designed by Boston engineers to push the ABZORB SBS technology, a cushioning system that runs from end to end of the sole.
The result is all in the details. Ripstop mesh on the upper, brushed suede panels on the heel, colorways ranging from olive to gray, branding on the tongues, and reflective accents. Surrounding the sneaker, Stone Island is building a capsule tailored for the World Cup, featuring a jersey and shorts made from recycled jacquard, a ball, a Prismatico-TC nylon hoodie, and a reversible cotton ripstop track suit. Endrick and Bukayo Saka are fronting the campaign, shot by photographer Bolade Banjo.
The collection will be available on June 4 on the website and at select Stone Island stores.
