Joe Freshgoods finally breaks the silence. After four months away, it seems the Chicago creative is reigniting the conversation with New Balance. Since their first collaboration in 2020 around the New Balance 992 "No Emotions are Emotions", Joe Freshgoods and New Balance have launched multiple projects, from the 993 to the 992, including the New Balance 2010. In 2026, the duo is ready to embark on a new chapter, featuring two silhouettes filled with a personal narrative between running heritage and creative boldness. This is another step in a partnership that has become one of the strongest in the game.
A 12th collaboration that’s already very symbolic

At first glance, the two silhouettes feature a hybrid construction between the New Balance 890v3 and the New Balance 2002r. In terms of design, the most influential creative from Boston plays with vibrant colors: orange and red for one, purple and black for the other. These palettes are directly inspired by the visual world that marked Joe Freshgoods during his childhood: the 90s rap videos, rich in saturated colors and raw energy. This is a chance to discover references to major figures like Busta Rhymes and Janet Jackson, particularly through the video “What’s It Gonna Be?!”.
"I would run home from school to watch my favorite rap videos in the 90s. All those bright colors and that crazy energy!"
Named “Finger Waves” and “Naughty Things”, the two designs still hold some mystery. Joe Freshgoods has yet to provide any official explanation about their meaning. As often in his work with the Bostonians, his silhouettes serve as narrative entry points. This expands the universe around the pair, allowing for interpretation and imagination. The final touch? A new "JFG" emblem on the heel, accompanied by the inscription 1890, confirming the desire to anchor this collaboration in a unique and instantly recognizable identity.
And when is it dropping?
For now, no official release date has been announced yet. One thing is for sure: keep an eye out for the upcoming announcements from the duo Joe Freshgoods and New Balance.
