But to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the iconic Air Max Plus Tn, Nike's creative teams have reworked the model designed by Sean McDowell and present us with the Air Max Plus Drift. A more modern and aggressive version that we'll break down together!
Nike Air Max Plus Drift: the origin of the design
When it was designed in 1998, the original Air Max Plus Tn drew inspiration from the sunsets young McDowell saw in Florida through the palm trees outside his window. These would largely inspire the design of this new version with its thicker TPU overlays representing the palm leaves surrounding the signature color gradient. A more technical look that fits right into the current era, notably thanks to Gorpcore, which reinterprets silhouettes designed for outdoor sports.
Comparison between the Air Max Plus Drift and the Air Max Plus Tn
Its thicker curves wrap around the mesh upper like an exoskeleton, making it more rugged and heavier than the classic Air Max Plus Tn. With its reinforced sole, the Air Max Plus Drift offers better grip on slippery surfaces. On the technology side, it stays with classic Air Max Tuned cushioning that delivers a great bounce feel. For the Air Max Plus Drift, the main difference lies in the sizing!
How do the Air Max Plus Drift fit?
While the Air Max Plus Tn are known to run slightly small, that's not the case for its younger sibling. Normally we'd recommend going a size up for comfort due to its sharp and narrow shape, but for the Air Max Plus Drift, we recommend keeping your usual size as you would with all other Nike models like the Dunk, Air Jordan 1, Vomero 5...
Nike Air Max Plus Drift: when does it drop?
Expected this winter in four colorways: All Day, Light Smoke Grey, Black Neon, Nike's newest creation will be available on February 27th at 9 AM on the Nike app (for the first three colorways) then on February 28th at 9 AM at a price of 200 euros on SNKRS and at other retailers for the Phantom Cacao Wow.
