In celebration of its 40th anniversary, the Air Jordan 3 is getting a makeover with Levi’s.
Few partnerships carry the weight of a true cultural legacy. The one between Levi’s and Jordan belongs to this category. Two American icons, from different worlds but driven by a shared vision, come together this year to remind us of one essential thing: denim is no longer just about jeans. On one side, Levi’s, a pioneer of denim, whose creations have accompanied workers, musicians, artists, and countercultures. On the other, Jordan, born from sports but quickly becoming a universal language, a symbol of self-improvement and personal expression. Together, Levi’s and Jordan are not just celebrating their past; they are extending it through the 40th anniversary of Jordan's third signature shoe.
The two partners unveil a collaboration that follows a clear logic: to engage their roots in a dialogue to propose a vision of excellence. Here, it’s not about reinventing for the sake of it, but about revisiting classics with new energy, true to the DNA of both brands. At the heart of the project is the Air Jordan 3. The sneaker becomes the perfect canvas for this dialogue. The result? Four distinct designs, each exploring a different aspect of this meeting.

The pack has already been spotted several times: Spike Lee, an unwavering Knicks supporter, made an appearance courtside at the Madison Square Garden with one of the first pairs, while the second was revealed during the “Black Cinema & Television Critics” ceremony organized by Choice Association. Meanwhile, Lil Yachty shared a first look at the Levi’s x Air Jordan 3 “Sail”, confirmed by Leo Gamboa, head of collaborations at Levi’s. A fourth version of the Air Jordan 3, from this collaboration and designed by Hugo Mendoza of Awake NY, completes the pack.
Four visions, four stories
Headlining: the Air Jordan 3 Year of the Horse. Designed to celebrate the Year of the Horse, this silhouette embodies movement, energy, and renewal. For this first design, the creative teams at Jordan use a cream denim, paired with pony hair accents. A red embroidery, done in chain stitch, highlights the attention to detail in the symbols and the artisanal touch. However, the silhouette will launch on January 24 exclusively in China, followed by Japan and Korea on January 30.

Alongside it, two other versions explore denim. The “Denim Navy” version features premium denim with a tone-on-tone black elephant print on the upper. The “Denim Black”, on the other hand, sports a dark reversed denim with matte premium leather. Of course, the iconic red tag is present on both silhouettes, reminding us of Levi’s heritage. A nod to purists, a call to nostalgia, and above all, a long-awaited return after eight years.

Finally, the Air Jordan “All Star” stands out as the rarest piece in the collection. Designed for the American market, specifically for Los Angeles, during the NBA All-Star Weekend, it will not have a standard release. Immaculate pebbled leather. Denim accents. The sneaker combines American workwear codes with Levi’s identity. A discreet red embroidery “City of Angels” on the tongue emphasizes the connection to Los Angeles, the host city of the All-Star Weekend.

Denim as an Extension of the Movement
The collection goes beyond just sneakers. Just like in the previous collaboration between Levi’s and Nike, the two partners continue their dialogue through a complete textile line. The keywords? Sporty influence and denim expertise. Varsity jacket. Jersey. Baggy jeans. No doubt, everything is designed to complement the Air Jordan 3. Each piece extends the story.

And once again, the details make the difference. The co-branded metal elements, the embroidery, as well as the durable fabrics and graphics from the archives pay tribute to the roots of both brands while projecting them into the future. A collection designed not only to be worn but to accompany the movement.
Available worldwide starting February 20 on Levi’s, the app, and in a selection of stores, the collection signed by Levi’s and Jordan will also be partially available on SNKRS on February 21. A proper celebration of the 40th anniversary of the Air Jordan 3.
